"Finally," I sighed contentedly, sinking into the plush sofa. The aroma of freshly baked bread filled the kitchen, where my wife was finishing dinner. Rain pattered softly against the windows, creating a cozy atmosphere. The world outside felt far away, unimportant.

Old Mr. Fitzwilliam next door always seemed to be struggling financially. He was a widower, lived alone, and drove an ancient, beat-up pickup truck. He’d often be seen rummaging through the local thrift store. He always had a kind word and a hearty laugh, but you could tell he was pinching pennies.

Then, one rainy afternoon, a fleet of luxury cars, followed by a moving van, arrived at his address. Men, dressed in expensive suits, rushed in and out of the house. I watched from the window, my peaceful mood completely shattered.
